International Networks

HIA is an active and acknowledged member of several international alliances

Our contacts with certain governmental and non-governmental organizations extend beyond the borders: since the foundation we have been working together with numerous foreign organizations in relief activities. The rich experiences gained through cooperation and the contacts established are great help in coordination related to various programs and in the effective and coordinated responses.

The European Union

Our partner in international development – in case of disasters we, as the only Hungarian aid agency, work in cooperation with ECHO, the Humanitarian Directorate-General of the EU.

In 2003 HIA, as the first Hungarian organization concluded a framework agreement with ECHO, the EU’s body responsible for humanitarian assistance. This allowed us to implement humanitarian actions with the support of the European Union. In addition, financed by EuropeAid – coordinating body of the EU for development issues – and in frame of cooperation with UN agencies several national and international humanitarian and development programs were implemented.

ACT Alliance – Geneva

We are members of the world’s largest humanitarian alliance of church-based organizations.

Almost from the very first moment of its foundation we have been closely cooperating with ACT Alliance (Action by Churches Together) which one of the largest international organizations comprising church-related aid organizations. In the bond of ACT – as the only Hungarian member – we have undertaken active role in numerous international humanitarian and development programs.

ACT Alliance EU – Brussels

Formerly known as APRODEV, ACT Aliiance EU is intended to promote cooperation of WCC-related European aid organizations; at the moment 14 organizations are working together with the help of ACT Alliance EU.
